In Samoa a 47 year old bus driver, Moe Iosua, has been convicted and sentenced to eleven years jail over the deaths of two children who were passengers when he drove his bus into a swollen ford.

The two girls, aged 5 and 12, died after the bus flipped and its wooden cab was ripped apart.

Iosua pleaded guilty to two counts of vehicular manslaughter under the newly passed Crimes Act and his custodial sentence includes a 12 year ban on driving any vehicle.

The defendant will be facing more charges relating to the other 25 passengers injured in the accident.
