Papua New Guinea police say they will not allow a public protest in Port Moresby on Monday.
The protest was planned by a group raising concerns about corruption and questioning some of the decisions made by the Peter O'Neill-led government.
The group, called the Social Media Activism Committee, wanted workers to stop work around PNG and challenge the government to send in police to arrest all the protestors.
It had also called for all taxi and public motor vehicle operators to take their vehicles off the road on Monday.
But the Port Moresby police commander, Andy Bawa, says in the interests of public safety, peace and good order, there will be no protest march or strike.
He says members of the public found congregating in public places on Monday will be arrested and charged with loitering or unlawful assembly.
