NZ and Indonesian Foreign Ministers to meet in Auckland

2:36 pm on 31 October 2013

The New Zealand Foreign Minister is meeting his Indonesian counterpart in Auckland today and will discuss trade and growing political ties between the countries.

Murray McCully says he'll be meeting Marty Natalegawa for the sixth annual Indonesia-New Zealand Joint Ministerial Commission.

Mr McCully says Indonesia played a strong role while it chaired the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation and says New Zealand welcomes Indonesia playing a greater role in the Asia-Pacific region.

New Zealand exports more than $800 million a year to Indonesia and Mr McCully says there is huge potential for this to grow.

New Zealand's country aid programme in Indonesia is its largest outside the Pacific.

Indonesia is on track to be the world's seventh-largest economy by 2030.
