Fiji leader says Australian conman Foster not in Fiji

Fiji's Prime Minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama, says the Australian conman, Peter Foster, is not in Fiji.

Last week, Foster evaded Australian authorities and told the Sunday Mail that he had left for Fiji using a false passport and was seeking a Fiji protection visa.

Foster had been sentenced to three years' jail on two charges of contempt of court relating to his involvement in a scam.

Commodore Bainimarama has told the Fiji Times that Foster is irrelevant and not an issue with him.

Foster has released a picture of himself holding Fiji newspapers, but it is not known where the picture was taken.
