An island-wide power failure has cut all communications with the southern French Polynesian island of Rapa.
The generator system failed yesterday, prompting the territorial government to send a ship with generators to Rapa.
The ship, the Tahiti Nui 1, is also carrying refrigeration containers and should arrive by tomorrow night.
A government statement says the ship will use the trip to pick up containers with sorted waste.
