Travel company backs CNMI govt in stopping birth tourism

One of the leaders in the tourism industry in the Northern Marianas is echoing the government's plea to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to address the increasing maternity traffic into the Commonwealth.

Century Tours has also lauded the CNMI's US Congress delegate, Gregorio Kilili Sablan, in his efforts to have the agency implement stricter enforcement.

A review of arrival records and other data shows the vast majority of individuals involved in so-called 'birth tourism' activities arrive in the CNMI on regular commercial flights - not the charters operated by Century Tours as claimed in the US media.

Century Tours says it screens its partners in China in an effort to avoid dealing with businesses that promote birth tourism and other questionable activities.
