The American Samoa governor, Lolo Matalasi Moliga, has ordered all flags to be flown at half staff for two days in honour of the late senator Fa'agata Mano Fa'agata III.

Fa'agata died last month.

Lolo says the lowering of flags is in remembrance of Fa'agata's outstanding public service and dedication to building and leading the territory.

The two-day funeral service for the late senator begins today, the day he would have turned 62.
