Most of French Polynesia's government ministers are bound for Paris after the ruling Tahoeraa Huiraatira passed fiscal reforms yesterday in a bid to revive the economy.
The delegation, led by Gaston Flosse, wants France to support the measures of the government formed just two months ago.

"Tax increases and plans to curb the public service are signals meant for Paris which French Polynesian leaders hope will be met by French goodwill and secure the territory more funds. Mr Flosse says when he meets the President Francois Hollande, he will also raise the French Polynesian assembly's wish to hold an independence referendum as soon as possible. Paris has so far remained silent about the request which runs parallel with a campaign by the pro-independence camp to have such a plebiscite under UN supervision. Mr Flosse has said he won't accept any outsiders, adding the issue is up to the French president alone to be determined."
