PNG government executive gets serious about tinted windows

1:26 pm on 7 August 2013

Papua New Guinea 's Chief Secretary to Government has directed all government departments and agencies that government vehicles are to be without tinted windows.

Sir Manasupe Zurenuoc has reminded the public bodies that, on the order of the Prime Minister Peter O'Neill, all tints on government vehicles are to be removed by the end of next week.

Sir Manasupe says despite the directive enjoying support from the public, he is disappointed at the failure to date of the public service to follow the instructions.

The Chief Secretary says failure to follow this direction will be treated as a disciplinary offence against the responsible Departmental Head.

He has also directed that any private plates on government vehicles should immediately be replaced with government plates and that all drivers of government vehicles must have driving permits.
