The Deputy Speaker of Tonga's Parliament, Lord Tu'iha'ateiho, is back in court on Friday when a date for a preliminary inquiry into a charge of the illegal possession of a firearm will be set.

Meanwhile, no date has yet been set for a preliminary hearing in the Magistrate's Court for another noble, the Vava'u MP Lord Tu'ilakepa, who is facing possession of illegal arms and ammunition charges.

Earlier this year some charges against him were withdrawn.

Matangi Tonga reports that these involved various drugs charges but they were dropped last month because of the complexity of the case and because key evidence gathered from telephone conversations had been done illegally.
