Samoa suffered their first defeat at the World Softball Championship, losing 4-3 to Venezuela in Auckland on Monday.
Both sides went into the match with three straight wins but it was the South Americans who went in front early, leading 3-0 after two innings, before the Tanifa pegged the lead back to one.
Venezuela extended their advantage again to 4-2 after five innings and held on to maintain their perfect record.
Venezuela have a quick turnaround and take on defending champions Australia on Tuesday morning, who have also yet to drop a game at the tournament.
Samoa take on the Czech Republic in the afternoon.
