Ten asylum seekers in Nauru to go before court in April

The ten remaining asylum seekers being charged with rioting at the Nauru detention camp go to trial in April.

Initially 15 had been charged with rioting and damaging property worth 25 thousand US dollars last September, but charges against 5 of them were dropped last week.

At a pre-trial hearing yesterday legal discussion included whether all ten should be tried jointly, individually or in small groups.

The Magistrate, Peter Law, wants them to be tried in groups of 3 or 4.
