A French Polynesian politician, Jean-Christophe Bouissou, says he received no hidden money from Bill Ravel, the New Caledonian businessman held for alleged corruption.
Mr Bouissou says a fresh newspaper report about a list of recipients of Mr Ravel's funds is defamatory.
He says in 2008 Mr Ravel paid 5,000 US dollars in sponsorship to his radio station which has been accounted for and declared.
This comes after further questioning of suspects over cash payments over several years by Mr Ravel to a top unionist, Cyril Legayec, to contain strikes at his Tahiti business.
Mr Ravel's associate, Kim Than Trong, has now been questioned in Tahiti after his arrest in New Caledonia
