Workers of a French Polynesian construction company have this morning blocked the road access to the assembly in Papeete in a protest at not being paid.
They are upset that 380,000 US dollars owed to the business and inscribed in the 2011 budget has still not been paid.
The company SMPP has lost more than half of its 200 workers since 2010.
Tahiti-Infos reports that the protest was triggered by revelations of high salaries within the territorial administration.
A union leader is quoted as saying drivers working for the government earn more than 5,000 US dollars a month, which is nearly three times more than SMPP drivers get.
