Vaima'anga resort project in Cook Islands still to get off ground

The most recent business group with intentions to finish the long delayed Vaima'anga resort project on Rarotonga in the Cook Islands is making little progress.

New Zealand based Mirage Group first floated the idea of developing the neglected property in 2010 with plans to have made progress by end of this year.

To date no construction has been initiated, but the land owner Pa Ariki has confirmed Mirage is continuing to pay a substantial monthly rent on the property.

She says they are still dealing with Mirage, which is currently negotiating with a construction company.
