Sport: Pacific still on a high as Paralympics close

The Paralympic Games have officially wrapped in London but Pacific nations are still reveling in what has been their most successful campaign ever.

Iliesa Delana made history last week in winning the first ever gold medal by a Pacific athlete, while a number of other athletes qualified for finals or recorded personal best times.

The Chef de Mission for Team Vanuatu, Andrew Bynon, says it's been a real group effort.

"Everyone's pretty excited. One of the keys to our success here was the fact that we all worked together as a team. We spent two weeks in Cardiff with some intensive training and I think we formed a really good team there. With that we've brought it into the village and we've worked together and we've come out with some success, which is excellent."

Andrew Bynon says he has high hopes their success in London can flow on positively to Paralympic sport back in the Pacific.
