PNG's O'Neill leaves country for APEC

Papua New Guinea's Prime Minister Peter O'Neill has left the country to join other Leaders from APEC, the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation, in Russia.

Leaders of APEC's 21 member economies will meet in Vladivostok on the weekend under the theme 'Integrate to Grow, Innovate to Prosper.'

The meeting will be preceded by the APEC Ministerial Meeting.

On the table will be APEC's 2012 priorities which include the strengthening of trade and investment, regional economic integration, food security, supply chains and innovation.

Other PNG leaders travelling with Peter O'Neill include Minister for Foreign Affairs and Immigration, Rimbink Pato and Minister for Commerce, Trade and Industry, Richard Maru.
