Papua New Guinea Supreme Court judge, Justice Nicholas Kirriwom, is to appear in court this morning in Waigani in Port Moresby on a charge of sedition.

Judge Kirriwom was asked to present himself to police yesterday and a brief interview was conducted after which he was charged.

Justice Kirriwom was one of three judges who last week stood by an earlier ruling that Sir Michael Somare had been illegally removed from office by the rival Peter O'Neill faction last August.

The Chief Justice, Sir Salamo Injia, was charged with sedition last week.

Justice Kirriwom was released yesterday afternoon on his own recognisance.
