Suspended jail sentence for French Polynesia's former tourism boss

The highest court in France has rejected an appeal by the former head of French Polynesia's tourism promotion agency, Brigitte Vanizette.

It upheld the one-year suspended prison sentence and confirmed a fine of 55,000 US dollars for financial irregularities as ruled by the appeal court in Tahiti.

She was found to have made large illegalpayout when she left the agency in 2002.

Vanizette also briefly served as tourism minister under Gaston Flosse.
