A police officer in American Samoa has pleaded not guilty to felony stealing, embezzlement and tampering with physical evidence.

Officer Talia Seloti, who is out on a 10,000 US dollar bond, has appeared in the High Court charged with the stealing of two IPODs from a case he was working on more than a year ago.

According to the government's case, two girls were made to surrender the two IPODs at a police station after their theft was reported by a shop.

The government alleges that the officer took the IPODs home and never turned them in to the evidence room.

The case came to light after the shop sought the return of the property.
