The new Solomon Islands police commissioner is expected in the country next month.

Englishman John Lansley was appointed nearly two months ago but is yet to take up the post.

The acting police commissioner, Walter Kola, says the official paper work for Mr Lansley's contract is now being done by the Prime Ministers office.

Mr Lansley has previously worked in Solomon Islands.

He was assistant to another Englishman, Bill Morell, who was the police commissioner for two years from 2003.
