Sport: Samoa keen to push on from Las Vegas triumph

Stephen Betham has urged his players to push on after they snapped a 21 month win drought at the Las Vegas Sevens.

Samoa overturned a defeat to New Zealand in pool play, beating the series leaders 26-19 in Monday's Cup final.

Stephen Betham says he was especially pleased with how his younger players rose to the occasion, in the absence of injured veterans Lolo Lui and Uale Mai, and says hopefully that gives them the belief to keep it up in.

"I think it's very important. Like I said for the young fellas who stepped up - we lost Lolo Lui and Uale Mai pretty late into the tournament and the young fellas they came out and played against an"

on fire New Zealand team. Credit to them they stood up and now they can believe in themselves they can do it and hopefully it boosts their confidence for the last two tournaments left.

The series resumes in Hong Kong in six weeks.
