Voters in American Samoa will consider a proposed constitutional change when they head to the polls this November.
The change which was approved by the Fono last year removes the Secretary of the Interior's power to override legislation approved by the Fono.
At present if the governor vetoes a bill and the Fono re-approves it, the governor sends the bill to the Secretary of the Interior who makes the final decision.
Under the proposed change the legislature can override the governor's veto by repassing the bill by a two thirds majority vote of each chamber.
Lawmaker Larry Sanitoa has called for a public awareness campaign to explain the proposal, which was defeated during the 2008 election, some say due to the lack of voter knowledge.
