Air Tahiti retains six small island destinations until at least July

French Polynesia's domestic carrier has rescinded its decision to stop taking bookings to six island destinations.

Two months ago, Air Tahiti said it would take no bookings beyond the end of January, but now it says it will accept reservations until the end of July.

The destinations in question are Ua Pou, Ua Huka, Apataki, Puka-Puka, Fakahina and Takume.

Air Tahiti says a deal has been struck with the government but no details have been given.

The government objected to the planned cuts which the airline said were due to big losses over many years.
