The Supreme Court in Samoa has sentenced a 39-year-old man, Tasele Collins, to three years in jail for making counterfeit money.

The defendant was caught in a shop in June this year trying to pass off two one hundred Samoan tala counterfeit notes.

The police were contacted by the shop owner and Collins was arrested.

He was carrying other fake notes including a 100 US dollar note.

Collins, a first offender, admitted all the charges.
