Samoa gets new coins depicting head of state

Samoa has issued new coins depicting the head of state, Tui Atua Tupua Tamasese Efi.

The new 50, 20, and 10 sene as well as the one tala coins are smaller.

The two tala note has been replaced by a coin.

Minting of 1, 2, and 5 sene coins has been stopped because they are rarely used.

The launch of the coins was held at the Robert Louis Stevenson museum and attended by government officials, diplomatic representatives as well as the business community representatives.
