Pacific Islands Forum Leaders have endorsed Tuiloma Neroni Slade of Samoa as their Secretary General for a second term.
Forum Leaders made the decision at their retreat yesterday.
Last week, Fiji said Melanesian countries were opposed to the Forum reappointing Mr Slade.
The Fiji Sun reported that a meeting of Melanesian Spearhead Group agreed to endorse Fiji's former foreign minister Kaliopate Tavola as its nominee.
It is not known if the MSG countries raised his candidacy at the retreat.
