After an impressive showing at this years Pacific Series netball tournament the Cook Islands believe they can go one better and win the event in 2012.

Despite losing to eventual champions Fiji, the Cook Islands were clinical in victories over Papua New Guinea and world champs bound Samoa.

Vice-captain Luciana Matenga says the Samoa game was one the team targeted and she believes they definitely proved a few doubters wrong.

"We just wanted to make the point to everybody that we should really be in the world cup next month. Big upset for Samoa but, you know, good win for us and back home there's a good feeling at home and all the phonecalls have circulated and it's going round on the radio so it's awesome exposure for us."

Luciana Matenga says, with another years development, the team is confident they can challenge for and perhaps win the tournament's next edition, in Fiji, in 2012.
