Solomons holds PACER workshop

3:19 pm on 14 April 2011

The Solomon Islands minister of foreign affairs and external trade, Peter Shanel Agovaka, has opened a national consultation meeting on the Pacific Agreement on Closer Economic Relations, or PACER, in Honiara.

PACER will eventually integrate the trade and economies of the Pacific.

The consultation brings together government officials and and a leading consultant for Solomon Islands on the extended version of the planned agreement, known as PACER-Plus, Professor Robert Scollay.

Mr Shanel says it's vital that all government ministries are consulted on PACER Plus because most of them will be affected by it.
