American Samoa Red Cross fundraise for Christchurch and Japan

10:24 am on 19 March 2011

The American Samoa Red Cross has launched a fundraising drive for disaster victims in Christchurch, New Zealand and Japan.

The Chairman of the local Red Cross, Lolo Letalu Letalu Moliga, has called on the people of American Samoa to return the kindness of global Red Cross organizations, various humanitarian aid groups and individuals who gave 1.2 million US dollars for the territory following the 2009 tsunami.

The Red Cross Board of Directors approved the appeal this week and Governor Togiola Tulafono has given his blessings.

Collection points have been set up around the territory to collect donations.

March is also Red Cross Month.
