Vanuatu police have arrested a member of parliament, David Ariasu, for contempt of court.
Police say he was supposed to be arrested a few weeks ago for contempt of court but the arrest did not take place because parliament was summoned to debate a no-confidence motion against the prime minister, Sato Kilman.
Mr Ariasu was arrested last year by the police but released on bail.
He had been charged with incest and is awaiting a court hearing next month.
Reports say Mr Ariasu was re-arrested in Fresh Water in Port Vila after he allegedly assaulted his five-year old son.
Mr Ariasu was elected in 2008 under the ticket of the prime minister Sato Kilman's People's Democratic Party.
