In American Samoa, the company now leasing the former Samoa Packing plant, Samoa Tuna Processors, says its now ready to process fresh tuna for shipment by airfreight to major markets.

Part of the cannery will be used for packing fresh tuna while the other part will undergo a major renovation which is expected to be completed by next year.

The company says the renovation will expand the plant's range of tuna products while improving efficiencies and capacities.

Peter Swan Group of New Zealand has been contracted by Samoa TunaProcessors' parent company Tri Marine, to do the design and engineering work for the cannery upgrade.
