Teachers in American Samoa are holding a rally this morning to urge the Governor to include teachers in an exemption from a reduction in hours.
The Federation of American Samoa Educators or FASE had written to the governor last week requesting that teachers be exempt from his cost cutting plan but they hadn't received any reply.
Governor Togiola Tulafono had announced at a graduation last week that teachers will not be included when the 70 hour pay for 80 hours of work begins with only essential service workers exempt.
Our correspondent in Pago Pago, Monica Miller, says hundreds of FASE members had indicated they would support today's rally on Utulei Beach.
"They are going to just hold posters and banners saying except us as we are essential services as well. This is the week of Christmas so they really have to be dedicated to be out there today. 15"
