Air NZ damage in Samoa under investigation

1:27 pm on 1 December 2010

An investigation is underway after a damaged door on an Air New Zealand Airbus A320 caused 138 passengers in Samoa a 17-hour flight delay.

The delay yesterday was caused by a collision between the cabin door and the hydraulic ladder at Apia's Faleolo International Airport.

Air New Zealand says the passengers have since arrived home on a different service and the damaged plane is now in Christchurch in New Zealand where the door is being repaired.

The airline says an investigation is still underway but it appears the damage was caused by operator error.

It says no further delays have been caused.
