Two Singapore nationals have been charged in relation to the theft of one million dollars in new Fiji $20 notes.

The container had its seal broken before it arrived at the Suva Wharf in September after it had been shipped from Britain.

The two men have been charged with theft and retaining the proceeds of theft.

A spokesperson for the Fiji police, Fred Elbourne, says a number of police forces, including from Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand, are still involved in the case:

"Investigations are still on going and hopefully we will make more arrests by the end of the month."

Fred Elbourne says the inquiry is not limited to Singapore, but included other ports.
