Solomons Govt Minister pleads guilty to ethnic tensions-related charges

The Solomon Islands Minister of Fisheries, Jimmy Lusibaea, has today in court pleaded guilty to charges relating to the ethnic tensions.

Also known as Jimmy "Rasta", the MP for North Malaita was charged on two counts - one for assault causing grevious bodily harm and the other for assaulting a police officer - in an incident which took place during the ethnic crisis.

Lusibaea has been remanded in custody, waiting his sentencing on the 24th of November.
