Fiji is currently the only Pacific island country participating in hybrid rice farming technology.
The Agriculture Research Director Mili Nawaikula told FBC News two rice farming experts from China are conducting hybrid rice farming training in the country.
The four week training began yesterday at the CATD Centre in Nadave.
Mr Nawaikula says agriculture officials and rice farmers are participating in the training.
He says the training will cover everything from breeding, seed production cultivation and harvesting .
After the training, participants will be expected to train other rice farmers around the country.
