The former chief executive officer of the American Samoa Power Authority has been appointed as executive director of the government owned Commonwealth Utility Corporation in the CNMI.

American Samoan Utu Abe Malae was among the two top candidates shortlisted in the selection process for the CUC boss.

He stepped down as an America Samoa senator in August last year for a new job at CUC as Assistant Executive Director for Operations - Water, Wastewater and Power.

The Northern Marianas Governor Benigno Fitial appointed Utu Abe Malae to the role, last week.
