The South Pacific Tourism Organisation says it hopes to get 7 million visitors to its Pacific Pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo, double the original target.
The organisation's CEO, Ilisoni Vuidreketi, says numbers grew rapidly after an awareness campaign.
He says they're surprised that some travel deals have already been struck, with Chinese tour operators visiting the Pacific Region.
"We do not really expect any immediate deals to be done at this time, but we are hoping that the deals will come when the Chinese market becomes more comfortable with the Pacific Region as a tourist destination and when the awareness is strengthened on the ground there then we expect the deals to begin rolling in, in three to five year's time."
The World Expo in Shanghai ends at the end of this month.
