A team from the US General Accountability Office, the investigative arm of Congress, is arriving in American Samoa this week to discuss the effects of wage increases on local residents, businesses and the American Samoa Government.

Under the federal law that increased the minimum wage, the office must asses the impact of the minimum wage increases in American Samoa and the CNMI, on the rates of employment and the living standards of workers.

The scope of the team's work will be focused on, key industries, earnings, and unemployment.
