Bahrain has agreed to establish formal diplomatic relations with Fiji.
Foreign Affairs Minister Ratu Inoke Kubuabola has told Fiji Broadcasting that this is a significant exhibition of trust and respect between the two countries to acknowledge and enhance bilateral relations.
The signing of a joint communiqué will be held at the margins of the 65th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in September.
Bahrain will join a number of Middle Eastern countries that have recently established diplomatic relations with Fiji.
