A fundraiser is focussing on providing practical tools to help create a sustainable living for villages in Samoa that were devastated by last years tsunami.
The Real New Zealand Music Trust is holding a Samoa Benefit Fundraising Concert, just outside of Auckland, with money also going towards music workshops for schools in Samoa.
After the tsunami hit, the trust realised that to help those who had lost everything, an on-going, sustainable venture was also needed.
Master carver and artist, Fatu Feu'u, from Poutasi village says axes, chain-saws and carving tools will be part of this venture.
"I've been asked by some of the people who lost everything in my village. Two of them are canoe builders, that they would like to get back to building canoes for themselves to go and fish and also to build canoes and even to sell them to other villages. To me there is a real need now after the tsunami to have an on-going venture."

The concert is also to raise funds for music instruments to take to workshops to be held at St Josephs College in Apia.
