Eleven media outlets in Fiji have registered their companies with the Media Industry Development Authority under the country's new media decree.
They are Fiji TV, Communications Fiji Ltd, the Fiji Times, Mai TV Group, Fiji Sun, Active Media which is the Turaga, Marama Magazine, Sporting Pulse Magazine, Half Time Magazine, Bula Namaste, Islands Business International Ltd and the Fiji Broadcasting Corporation.
Fiji's interim Attorney-General and the Minister for Justice, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, says other organisation are also registering their details.
He says the details and other issues that need to be dealt will be scrutinised by the Media Industry Development Authority as is provided for under the media decree.
Mr Sayed-Khaiyum has also announced the new Chairman and the members of the Media Industry Development Authority.
The chairman is Professor Subramani who replaces Professor Satendra Nandan who had withdrawn due to health reasons.
Mr Sayed Khaiyum says the other members are Asilika Uluilakeba, Jimaima Schultz, Peni Moore and Matai Akaoula.
