The Solomon Isands Chief Electoral Officer, Polycarp Haununu, says the upcoming National Election in August will cost the government a total of 2.9 million US dollars.
He says so far government has committed US $2million on the voter registration process, electoral training and awareness programmes.
Mr Haununu said his office is expecting another US$900-thousand funding from government to enable the completion of the election process.
Voters will go to the polls on August 4 to elect new leaders for the country's 50 seat parliament.
Nearly 300 candidates have registered to contest with others yet to be formally announced.
