U.S. Internal Revenue Service to hold a workshop in American Samoa

The U.S. Internal Revenue Service, or IRS, is holding a workshop in American Samoa later this month for both the government and private sector.

Hosted by the American Samoa Treasury Department, the IRS workshop training will be conducted by IRS agent Gary Petersen and scheduled for the 19 to the 22 of July.

The training will cover topics including employment taxes, independent contractor versus employee, and employee fringe benefits.

The Treasury Department has urged government agencies and the private sector to have representatives attend the workshop in order to ensure their compliance with employment tax laws.

Of importance are the new federal tax credit for employers under provisions of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
