Micronesia Cruise Task Force formed at Summit

The island nations of Micronesia look likely to host cruise ships like the Queen Mary , Holland America , Royal Caribbean , and Princess Cruise later this year."

This comes after Micronesia Cruise Taskforce was created by delegates of the 13th Micronesian Chief Executives Summit, which kicked off on Wednesday in the Northern Marianas.

Member islands of the newly formed task force will collaborate to attract small to midsize cruise ships that are expected to redeploy in the region beginning this year.

Guam Ports Authority chair, Monte Mesa, disclosed that 14 million tourists went on boat cruises in 2009 and the industry has been showing an average growth rate of 7 percent each year.
