In the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas, a new ferry service is being launched for Tinian residents this week.

"The weekly service starts on Friday and will help residents cope with the loss of the Tinian Express , which suspended its operations for six months from March."

The 45 passenger vessel Super Emerald, owned by Norman Tenorio, will be conducting a month-long trial run every Friday between the two islands of Saipan and Tinian.

According to Captain Paul Cruz, the Super Emerald existed before Tinian Express started its service.

He said the vessel was converted into a diving boat that services Saipan and the Northern Islands but was revived because of the immediate need of the people of Tinian.
