Public Health Emergency declared in Fiji's West following typhoid cases

In Fiji, a state of Public Health Emergency has been declared in Navosa in the province of Nadroga as over 100 cases of typhoid have been recorded in the area.

Fiji Village says the Deputy Secretary for Public Health, Dr Joe Koroivueta, revealed that a task force has been dispatched to the area to contain the spread of typhoid as the numbers are increasing.

Dr Koroivueta said all efforts are being made to ensure that there are no fatalities and those who are infected are treated as soon as possible.
