10:50 am on 24 May 2010

The Fiji warriors will face the Fiji Barbarians in this weekend's final of the Pacific Rugby Cup for the first time ever.

The two home sides secured victories in Sigatoka at the weekend, to make to final of the three country tournament.

Megan Whelan reports.

"The defending champions Fiji Warriors showed their title credentials by beating Tonga's Tau'uta Reds 48-0"

Earlier in the day, the barbarians had already booked a place in the final with an 18-14 victory over Savaii Samoa to finish top of the cup standings.

Tonga's Tautahi Gold had an outside chance of making the final, but couldn't get past Upolu Samoa, beaten 24-10.

It is the first time two teams from the same country have faced off in the final, and means a side from Fiji will take the silverware for the second year running.

The final will be played at the national stadium in Suva on Saturday. "
