CNMI government departments are being audit

The Fitial administration in the Northern Marianas has awarded a contract of some 300,000 US dollars to the Virginia-based Management Analysis Incorporated.

The US company is to conduct a desk audit of the Department of Public Safety and the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs in the CNMI.

Under the audit, positions in both Departments will be reviewed, including individual duties and responsibilities.

A job audit may reveal both inefficiencies and under-utilized resources in the government.

It may also identify problems such as excessive salaries, the filling of redundant or obsolete positions, and general staffing inefficiencies in government.

The acting CNMI Governor Eloy Inos says the long-overdue desk audit will result in an efficient government.
